Fallout 76, the online multiplayer game set in the long-running post-apocalyptic series, has seen a surge of players due to Amazon Prime’s hit TV adaptation. And if you’re thinking about giving it a shot, you may be wondering if you can easily hop into games with your friends on other platforms. So before you pick up a copy of Fallout 76 on PC or subscribe to Xbox Game Pass, you’ll need to find out if the game has crossplay between consoles and PC.

Does Fallout 76 Have Crossplay?
Fallout 76 does not have crossplay, so you’ll want to ensure that whatever version of the game you’re getting is for the same platform that the people you want to play with are on. It doesn’t just break down between console and PC players, though. If you’re playing on PlayStation and your friends or family are on Xbox, you still won’t be able to play together. You need to be on the same exact platform.
However, if you have access to PC Game Pass, you’ll be able to install the PC version of Fallout 76 at no additional charge, and here you can play with other PC players who have the Steam version. Just be sure you don’t install the cloud version of Fallout 76 on your PC, because that is tied to your Xbox account and will not have access to the PC player pool.
When you boot up Fallout 76 you’ll see the Social tab on the main menu. Click on this to add your friends to the party before loading into one of the servers.
At the time of this writing, there’s a Fallout series sale on Steam, the Microsoft Store, and the PlayStation Store, running until the end of next week. So you can pick up the game at a pretty steep discount for the time being.
Once you’ve started the game, you’ll need to make it out of Vault 76 before you can visibly see other players, including your teammates. Luckily this introductory section is pretty quick so it won’t be long before you’re wandering the wasteland with your pals and getting into all sorts of trouble along the way.
