Nahuatl is one of the indigenous languages of the state of Jalisco, Mexico. In Jalisco, Colima and coastal Michoacan the language is called Mexicano. Mexicano is a dormant language in Jalisco and Colima only surviving in Michoacan. Southern Jalisco and parts of Colima make up a part of what once a sub variant within western peripheral Nahuatl. The other two main variants being coastal Michoacan Nahuatl, and Caxcan Nahuatl with a sub variant of Mexicanero. This dictionary is a compilation of all vocabulary recorded of the language and some reconstructed words based on the sources and grammatical rules. It is a companion to the previously published “Ma Tiłahtucan Mexicano: Let’s speak Mexicano,” Chris Cuauhtli, 2023. However, it can be used independently. This dictionary is not written for the professional linguist but rather for the general public and the community. The dictionary is made up of two sections. The first consists of a Mexicano to English section, somewhat analytical with examples from closely related variants from the region. The second half is the English to Mexicano section. The English to Mexicano section has 1324 entries while the Mexicano to English section has more.
